Learn more about Seismic Data Interpretation
The interpretation of seismic data plays a crucial role in oil and gas exploration, as it provides valuable information about the Earth’s subsurface, aiding in the identification of geological structures favorable to the accumulation of hydrocarbons.
After collection, the raw seismic data goes through several processing steps to improve its quality and make it more interpretable. This includes applying filters to remove noise, timing and amplitude corrections, migrating to correct for spatial distortions, and other techniques to improve data resolution and accuracy.
Interpreters identify and interpret the reflections and seismic events recorded in the data. They look for patterns of reflections that might indicate interfaces between different geologic layers, stratigraphic horizons, faults, or other subsurface features.
